Please make sure that you are posting in the form of a question. The Hioki pen-sized digital multimeter also known as hikoi multitester is an average-sensing, auto-ranging meter for measuring voltage and resistance in electrical testing applications. The meter has integral test leads.

A built-in flashlight illuminates dark work areas. The pen-sized meter fits in a shirt pocket when not hioko use. The hold function keeps a reading on jioki LCD, even after the meter is disconnected. The LCD is backlit 32466 readability in low light.

The unit automatically turns off after 10 minutes of nonuse to conserve battery life, and a low-battery indicator signals when the meter’s battery needs to be replaced.

When not in use, the black test lead can be attached to the back of the meter and the red test lead can be covered with the built-in sensor cap to help protect against bumps and abrasions.

This average-sensing, or average-responding, meter provides accurate readings when measuring linear loads, such as standard induction motors and incandescent lights, where the current or voltage has an undistorted waveform. When turned on, the meter is in auto-ranging mode and automatically selects the correct operating range for the property being measured.

It can be switched to manual-ranging mode, which allows the operator to choose the appropriate operating range. Without the included test lead sleeves, it meets International Electrotechnical Commission IEC safety standard and is certified for Category II installations up to V, which covers large household appliances and devices connected to a fixed power supply such as refrigerators and air conditioners.

With the included test lead sleeves, it is certified for Category III installations up to V, which covers items used with enclosed building circuit installations such as service panel parts, branch circuits, and fixed installations that are connected directly to a building’s AC power supplyand Category IV installations up to V, which covers measurements at the source of the low-voltage supply such as electricity meters and overcurrent protection devices.

H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back. Multitesters also called multimeters are electrical test meters that measure multiple properties of an electrical circuit, such as current, voltage, resistance, capacitance, and continuity.

Available in handheld or benchtop models, multitesters diagnose electrical problems in electrical equipment, wiring, and power supplies. A variety of probes, clamps, and leads can be used to connect the meter to a circuit or device. Multitesters display information either in analog or digital form. Factors that influence meter choice include the electrical properties to be measured, the anticipated range of results, and the desired level of protection against transient voltages.

Safety ratings are based on the International Electrotechnical Commission’s IEC standards for low-voltage test equipment. IEC delineates four overvoltage installation categories. In general, a meter with a category IV rating will provide more protection against transient voltages than a meter with a lower category rating. Hioki manufactures memory recorders, automatic test equipment, and electronic testing and measurement instruments.

Pen-type Digital Multimeter, DMM | Pencil HiTester – Hioki

Unless you have a good reason to avoid it, I highly recommend the pen type for home use. You often don’t have a convenient place to set down a meter so that you can see it, so in practice one often has to hold the meter and both terminals in one’s hands. Obviously, this would be more convenient if hioik meter were smaller, and were integrated into one of the leads.

This is the philosophy behind a pen-type meter. You can measure the voltage in a set of wires hanging from the ceiling while standing on a ladder, for example, something you can’t do with a standard 3426 factor meter.

Quite the opposite; the lack of buttons is just an indication of good design. The only thing this is missing that Hioji seen other meters hioji is a frequency counter. But nobody uses that, and a frequency counter in a consumer multimeter is likely to be junk, anyway.

What this does is everything you likely need: The auto-ranging is fast, and beeps when its stabilized, a hikoi nice feature because you’re not going to be looking at the display while positioning the probes. The HOLD button is well-positioned near your thumb, and allows for grabbing a voltage without having to look at the device. Another nice feature is the light. Hold down the “HOLD” button for a second and the display becomes back-lit and a bright LED throws plenty of light in the direction of the probe, illuminating 2346 work.

There is a place on the back to wrap the wire for the other probe, and the probe itself gets garaged cleverly in the pen body, as well. The unit itself hiki not heavy, but nonetheless has a solid, well-made feel to it. I can’t say anything for long-term stability yet, but if I find any problems I’ll update this review. If you need to measure electricity, you need to do it hkoki. Check out the reviews of the cheap hioko, and you’ll see there is a significant fraction of people who find out the measurements are off, or for whom the meter goes bad after a while.

Wonder how many of the good reviews are from people who just haven’t adequately verified their meter? Great value for the money. This is a replacement for the exact same one I had for 10 years. The original had started giving bad voltage readings, 32246 after replacing the battery. This new one works great so far. Many people I work with in the film industry use this model, as it is very simple and light weight to carry all day.

It has become the “industry replacement” for the old Wavetek pen meters people use to have. It is priced right too! Its purpose is to perform basic tests, in my case being carried into the limited tool space of a motorcycle. Instructions in paper, only in english and very well written. Tips are gold plated. Autorange is very fast. It hiooki tic-tic-tic when changing to proper range. It also has manual range. The beep is not very loud, but that is expected for such a tiny meter.

Checks up to 2V, but there is no millivolt indication. Instead, it shows in inverse polarization and -OO- in direct polarization, along with hiooi.

Lights a green LED.
